It wasn't until Bobbi and her brother were twelve and ten, respectively, did she become aware of her parent's falling out. Her mother, unhappy in her marriage, carried on an affair with their neighbor in a desperate attempt to end her union with Bobbi's abusive father. Though Bobbi didn't understand fully what was going on and blamed her mother for their broken family, but wound up living with her once her parent's split. It wasn't something that either parent wanted their children to be aware of, but with both of them seething with anger and hatred for one another, it was inevitable that tidbits of information and trash talk would slip past their mostly guarded lips and onto the ears of Bobbi and Topher.
Though Bobbi nor her brother rebelled, such as many children of divorce did, they did have trouble dealing with trusting others except for each other. They were essentially all the two had. Eventually, life started to have some semblence of normalcy attached to it and things quieted down for the two of them. Bobbi started to get back on track with all aspects of her life, smoothing out her relationship with her mother; attempting to forge one with her father; finding her way back into the good graces and grades of her teachers.
Bobbi took an unexpected turn when it came to her continuing education. Though she had managed the top picks of schools around the nation and the dream of getting out of Mass was seriously tantilizing; after exhausting all of her options, Bobbi felt a strong desire stick close to her family but experience life on her own. Her mother, though hesitant at first, warmed up to the idea of her daughter experiencing life on her on own terms. With an acceptance letter to M.I.T., Bobbi packed up and moved into the city with her brother following shortly behind as it wasn't a far reach to expect the two to stick together.
Life in the city wasn't all rainbows and lollipops, but it was definitely far better than the one she had experienced early on. Bobbi was finally free to live and be who she wanted to; even finding the opportunity to explore her first real relationship. And though it ended six months later, it was the first time in Bobbi's life that she felt like she knew who she was. Since graduating, Bobbi has earned her PHd in Biochemistry and had been offered a job within the school as a lecturer.
Her life, though still a work in progress, is seemingly following a desirable & welcomed path.
